Casino Losses Rp.114 Billion, Accuses Famous Poker Players of "Cheating"

A casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States (US), recently filed a lawsuit against one of the world famous poker players . Borgata Casino, the name of the gambling place, accused the gambler of cheating, until they lost and lost money reaching nearly 10 million US dollars.

In the dossier filed in federal court last week, the casino accused Phillip Ivey Jr., the gambler who is also a nine-time champion of the Poker World Championship, to outline cheating by using the technique of "edge sorting". Borgata Casino accused Ivey of Bukti Transfer Poker using the card maker's mistake, which he predicted would be known when he noticed differences in the design behind the card.

As quoted by Gawker from the Associated Press (AP), the claim stated that Ivey and a colleague, in the Baccarat game, asked the dealer to reverse the card in a certain way, depending on if there was a card desired. In this case, numbers 6, 7, 8 and 9 are considered good cards.

Meanwhile, according to the statement in the claim file, the "bad" cards will be reversed in a different direction, so that after a few cards, the good cards will be arranged in a certain pattern where the "unusual" side is facing in a certain direction. That's where Ivey is said to be able to ascertain when the cards are issued by the dealer.

Also explained, that the cards produced by Gemaco Inc. should display a circle design that looks like the top of the diamond (half) diamond pattern. But the diamonds in the pattern turned out to be slightly different in shape.

Also based on AP records, another casino, Golden Nugget Casino, had previously submitted a file of lawsuits against Gemaco, because their cards had made it easy for gamblers to win up to 1.5 million US dollars (Rp17 billion). While on the contrary, it is known that Ivey might also not be a "clean" person, because previously a casino in London had also sued him for similar reasons, and they won. (Gawker)
